Savage Warriors is a 1995 DOS fighting game focused on one-on-one battles between powerful martial artists. Players select from a roster of warriors, each with different attacks and abilities, and fight through a series of matches using punches, kicks, special moves, and defensive techniques. The game follows the familiar fighting-game formula but gives its characters a distinctive fantasy-oriented flavor. Timing and knowledge of each fighter's moves are important, particularly as opponents become more aggressive. The presentation reflects the mid-1990s fascination with increasingly dramatic fighting games, complete with exaggerated attacks and larger-than-life characters. Savage Warriors is best enjoyed as straightforward arcade entertainment rather than a realistic martial-arts simulation. Nobody here appears especially interested in conserving energy or avoiding unnecessary property damage. The warriors have come to fight, and apparently the furniture was not consulted.
