Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe review

PC Review Issue 7 (1992): "Lucasfilm is a company which specialises in producing top-notch games in two distinct areas: animated graphic adventures (The Secret Of Monkey Island etc.) and historical flight sims, the best of which is this beauty. The premise of the game is what if the jet and rocket-powered weapons the Germans were working on in the dying days of the war came into general use and their effect on the outcome of the war. Extra missions disks are now available."

Collector's corner:

The game was initially released with a code wheel and a 225-page manual, detailing the air war over Western Europe between 1943 and 1945.

Possibly the best WW2 air combat game of all time: 18 different aircraft, flight school, historical missions, custom missions, tours of duty, 6 campaign battles (where you have to manage pilot attrition, military production, technological research, etc., in addition to flying missions), evolution of your pilot, multiple weapons configurations, powerful mission editor... the possibilities are endless and the immersion is unmatched. Truly a classic.
