Sleepwalker

Sleepwalker is a 1993 DOS platform game inspired by the peculiar problem of wandering around while asleep, which is generally considered an unfortunate hobby even before somebody turns it into a video game. The player must guide a sleepwalking character through dangerous environments, avoiding obstacles and making sure he does not suffer an unpleasant awakening. The game mixes platforming with puzzle-like situations, requiring careful timing and quick reactions. Its central idea gives the gameplay a playful sense of urgency because the protagonist is largely incapable of looking after himself. The result is a charmingly strange experience in which the player becomes responsible for preventing disaster while the character continues wandering around completely unaware of the danger. Sleepwalker has a distinctly cartoonish personality and does not take itself too seriously. It is a good example of how early-1990s games could take an everyday oddity, add hazards and slapstick, and somehow turn it into a complete adventure.
