Space Quest: The Lost Chapter is a curious artifact released in 2001 by dedicated fans who decided Roger Wilco deserved one more misadventure. Essentially a remake and expansion of the first game, it rebuilds the classic story with improved graphics and a friendlier interface while keeping the spirit of Sierra’s famously unforgiving design. Roger still wakes up at the worst possible moment, the Sarien threat still looms, and the universe still seems determined to eliminate him through sudden, ridiculous accidents. What makes the game charming is its obvious affection for the original series: it doesn’t try to reinvent Roger’s story, it simply polishes it and adds a few extra surprises. Playing it feels a bit like revisiting an old sci-fi comedy, complete with inside jokes for long-time fans.
