Star Trek: 25th Anniversary

If Star Trek: 25th Anniversary isn’t on your DOS nostalgia list, fix that now. Released in 1992, it’s a point-and-click adventure that actually feels like classic Star Trek — witty banter, moral quandaries, and just enough phaser action to keep McCoy complaining. Each mission plays like a lost episode of the original series, complete with Kirk’s charming overconfidence and Spock’s eyebrow gymnastics. The writing sparkles with humor, and the graphics — crisp for the time — make the Enterprise bridge feel alive. It’s one of the rare Star Trek games that remembers: this is about exploration, not just explosions.

Retro gamer collector's corner:

The game was initially released in 1992 for the PC on a series of 3.5" floppy disks, with a later release on CD-ROM adding improved sound effects and the voices of the actors from The Original Series.

Following the success of 25th Anniversary, Interplay developed a sequel entitled Star Trek: Judgment Rites.

@Peter - Actually it is! Look for the Kobayashi Alternative here on AbandonwareDOS.

As abandonware I thought the Kobayashi Alternative was free to download and play - at least that is what other web sites say. However there is a key disk protection requiring a federation star map in a floppy drive..
