Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II continues Kyle Katarn's story while transforming the series into a more ambitious 3D action adventure. Released in 1997, it introduces lightsaber combat and Force powers, allowing players to choose how they develop their character during the campaign. The mixture of firearms, swordplay, supernatural abilities, and exploration gives the game much more variety than a conventional shooter. Levels are filled with Imperial troops, dark Jedi, environmental puzzles, and secret areas, while the story expands the Star Wars universe with original characters and locations. Jedi Knight feels like a genuine leap forward from its predecessor, especially once the lightsaber becomes part of the arsenal. Choosing Force powers also gives the player a sense of progression and personality. Of course, once you receive telekinetic powers, using a normal door suddenly feels terribly old-fashioned. Why open it when you can apparently throw somebody through it?
