StarCraft

StarCraft is Blizzard's landmark 1998 real-time strategy game, bringing three radically different factions into a fast, competitive struggle for control of the Koprulu Sector. The Terrans rely on adaptable human technology, the Protoss combine advanced machinery with powerful psionic abilities, and the insect-like Zerg overwhelm opponents through numbers and relentless expansion. Each faction plays differently, making the campaign and multiplayer battles surprisingly varied. Players gather resources, construct bases, research technologies, and build armies while trying to anticipate the enemy's plans. StarCraft also features a strong story campaign with memorable characters and cinematic presentation, giving the strategy mechanics a proper science-fiction narrative. The balance between the three races is one of its greatest strengths. It is the kind of game where five minutes of “just building my base” can suddenly become a full-scale invasion. Apparently, the safest military strategy is to never let your opponent finish constructing anything.
