Starflight

Starflight is a classic space exploration and role-playing video game released in 1986 by Binary Systems and published by Electronic Arts. It is known for its innovative gameplay, as well as its open-ended approach to space exploration and storytelling.
The game is set in a massive, procedurally generated universe with thousands of star systems to explore. Players control a starship and its crew, and they can freely travel to different planets and star systems.

Originally available only on IBM, Tandy, and compatible PCs, Starflight was released for the Amiga and Commodore 64 in 1989 and the Atari ST and Macintosh in 1990, and a Sega Genesis version was published in 1991. The Genesis version has new graphics, modifications to the ship, and upgrades for the Terrain Vehicle, including equipment to allow amphibious mining.

    I played this in my early 20's when it came out, I spent many late night hours getting those minerals and artifacts!

    I played this throughout my girlfriend pregnancy with my Daughter in 1985 and still have the 2 floppy discs and the cheat sheet EA sold a year afterwards.
