Stone Age throws you into a prehistoric world where survival depends on exploration, quick thinking and the occasional willingness to hit something with a very primitive weapon. Rather than presenting the Stone Age as a peaceful period of picturesque landscapes and friendly mammoths, the game gives it a more adventurous flavour, with hazards and enemies waiting around the scenery. Its gameplay mixes action and exploration, encouraging you to move through environments while dealing with obstacles and hostile creatures. The graphics have the unmistakable charm of early PC games, where imagination often has to do some of the heavy lifting. Stone Age is not a historically accurate simulation, nor does it particularly care about archaeology. It is a playful prehistoric adventure, and sometimes that is exactly what you want.
