Striker 95 takes the football formula into the middle of the 1990s, with more detailed presentation and a stronger emphasis on competitive matches. The game offers the usual ingredients of virtual football: teams, tournaments, passing, shooting and plenty of opportunities to blame your goalkeeper when everything goes wrong. Compared with earlier football titles, the graphics and animation are more polished, giving matches a livelier feel while keeping the controls accessible. The tactical side is important enough to make simple button mashing unreliable, so players who learn how to move the ball intelligently will usually have the advantage. Striker 95 is not trying to reinvent football, and that is perfectly fine. It is a straightforward, enjoyable snapshot of how PC soccer games were evolving during the 1990s, when every new edition seemed determined to add just a little more realism.
