Super Mariio Bros

Super Mariio Bros is a DOS-era platform game whose title immediately makes its intentions rather obvious. It borrows heavily from the famous plumber formula, offering side-scrolling action, platforms, enemies, obstacles, and the familiar rhythm of running, jumping, and trying not to fall into unpleasant places. The unofficial nature gives it a certain homemade charm, especially when compared with the polished console games that inspired it. Levels are designed around straightforward platforming challenges, and the fun comes from learning enemy patterns and getting your timing right. The presentation is simple, but the basic mechanics remain easy to understand, which is precisely why this sort of game could keep players occupied for hours. Super Mariio Bros is unlikely to fool anyone into thinking it is a major Nintendo production, but that is not really the point. It is an interesting snapshot of the era when familiar gaming ideas were constantly being recreated for home computers, sometimes with wonderfully questionable spelling.

I used to play this game when I was 5 or 6 (1997/98).
My cousin had it on a 3.5" Floppy Disk.
At that time, we were playing also Carmen Sandiego, Dangerous Dave and DX Ball.

Until today, I always thought this game was official, not a remake.
