In Tau Ceti, you’re the lone pilot of a heavily armed hoverbike trying to reboot a dying colony under an alien sun. It’s slow, moody, and brilliantly atmospheric. The vector-style graphics might look primitive now, but back in 1987 they screamed “futuristic.” The game’s real strength is its sense of isolation—you’re not blasting enemies nonstop, you’re surviving in a hostile, silent world. Think of it as Elite meets Blade Runner, with a side of existential dread.
The Games Machine (1997): "Tau Ceti has some wonderful graphical effects, with the buildings and other objects viewed in very effective, solid 3-D. The PC adaption retains the very clever shadowing effect of the 8-bit versions; it also retains the depth of game and should provide PC owners with a challenge to last for months."
