Terminator 2029 takes the familiar Terminator universe and drops it into a surprisingly tactical DOS adventure. Released in 1992, the game puts you in command of a resistance team fighting Skynet forces in a grim future where humanity has apparently decided that metal corridors and extremely large guns are interior decoration. Rather than being a simple arcade shooter, it combines tactical combat, exploration and character management, giving the player plenty of decisions to make between encounters. The graphics are suitably gloomy and mechanical, while the Terminator setting does much of the atmospheric heavy lifting. If you ever wanted to save mankind one carefully planned mission at a time, this is your appointment with destiny.
