The Beverly Hillbillies

The Beverly Hillbillies turns the television comedy into a lighthearted computer adventure built around the Clampett family and their wonderfully strange arrival in Beverly Hills. Released in 1993, the game mixes exploration, puzzles, familiar characters, and comic situations inspired by the television series. The humor comes largely from the contrast between the family's rural background and their new surroundings, giving the player plenty of opportunities to interact with a world they clearly do not understand in quite the same way as everyone else. The gameplay is deliberately approachable, favoring character interaction and simple problem solving over difficult action sequences. The Beverly Hillbillies is very much a product of its licensing era, when almost any successful television property could be turned into a computer game. Fortunately, the eccentric cast gives it enough personality to remain entertaining. If nothing else, it proves that sudden wealth does not necessarily improve your understanding of Beverly Hills traffic.
