The Journeyman Project 2: Buried in Time

The Journeyman Project 2: Buried in Time is a science-fiction adventure built around time travel, investigation, and the slightly alarming realization that history can be ruined by making one small mistake. You play Gage Blackwood, a time-traveling agent tasked with investigating events across different periods while dealing with a conspiracy that threatens the future. The game mixes exploration, puzzle solving, futuristic interfaces, and a cinematic presentation that was particularly impressive for its era. Instead of simply shooting everything that moves, you spend much of your time examining environments, collecting clues, operating machinery, and figuring out what happened before you arrived. The time-travel setting provides plenty of opportunities for unusual locations and story twists, while the detailed environments give the adventure a distinctive atmosphere. It is cerebral without being dry, occasionally cheesy in that wonderfully 1990s way, and packed with enough temporal complications to make a history textbook look pleasantly uncomplicated.
