Tom and Jerry turns the eternal rivalry between the cat and mouse into a computer platform adventure filled with traps, chases and the sort of household destruction that would make any responsible insurance company nervous. Players guide one of the famous characters through colorful environments while avoiding enemies and obstacles, with the familiar cartoon slapstick providing much of the game's personality. The mechanics are straightforward and easy to understand, making it accessible to younger players, although some sections can become surprisingly demanding. The charm comes largely from seeing the recognizable characters translated into interactive form. Tom and Jerry is not a deep simulation of domestic warfare, thankfully, but it does capture the basic spirit of the cartoons: someone runs, someone chases, something breaks and nobody learns a useful lesson. It is a cheerful piece of licensed gaming nostalgia with plenty of chaotic cartoon energy.
