Based on the famous movie, the game captures the general atmosphere of high-speed naval aviation while simplifying the experience for computer players. Missions involve taking off, engaging enemy aircraft, navigating hostile situations, and attempting to return home in one piece. The controls require some practice, particularly if you are accustomed to games where aircraft politely obey every command. There is a pleasingly direct quality to the action, though the technology inevitably shows its age. Still, there is something satisfying about launching into the sky with missiles ready and absolutely no time for paperwork.
