Trog

Trog is a colourful arcade-style maze game in which you take control of Bubbler, a small dinosaur-like hero with the unenviable task of rescuing eggs while avoiding hostile creatures. The basic idea is simple enough, but the levels quickly fill with enemies, hazards, and opportunities to discover that standing still was a terrible decision. Movement is brisk, the environments are packed with things to collect, and the action has that wonderfully direct arcade quality where you understand the objective almost immediately. The prehistoric setting gives it a playful personality without making the gameplay unnecessarily complicated. Enemies can be dealt with in several ways, and surviving often requires a mixture of quick reactions and sensible positioning. Trog may not reinvent the maze genre, but it does a fine job of delivering uncomplicated fun. It is the sort of game that looks harmless until the screen fills with angry creatures and your rescue mission becomes considerably less relaxing.
