Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space

Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space is a compact space strategy game built around exploration, discovery, trading, combat, and the delightful possibility that your carefully planned expedition will end because you met something enormous and unfriendly. Released in 2005, it offers procedurally generated galaxies, giving each new campaign a different collection of planets, civilizations, technologies, and hazards. The interface is straightforward, while the strategic choices underneath are surprisingly rich. You can explore unknown systems, trade goods, recruit ships, collect unusual artifacts, and decide when it is smarter to fight and when it is smarter to run away with dignity. The game does not bury everything beneath complicated menus, making it easy to experiment and start another campaign. Its replayability comes from the unpredictable combinations created by each new galaxy. For anyone who enjoys space adventures without needing a hundred-hour commitment, Weird Worlds is a wonderfully approachable little universe.
