Wings of Fury is a compact aerial action game that puts you behind the controls of a fighter aircraft and wastes little time explaining why the sky is currently full of people trying to shoot you. The gameplay revolves around taking off, attacking enemy positions, dropping bombs or firing weapons, and attempting to return home in one piece. The controls have a distinctly old-school feel, demanding attention to speed, altitude, and positioning rather than allowing the aircraft to behave like a flying cursor. Missions become increasingly demanding, and careless pilots tend to discover that ammunition and fuel are rather important things. The graphics are simple, but the action has a pleasing immediacy that suits short sessions. Wings of Fury does not need an elaborate storyline to make its point: climb into the cockpit, complete the mission, and try not to turn your aircraft into an extremely expensive lawn dart.
