World Darts takes the humble pub game of darts and gives it a suitably digital makeover. The objective sounds simple enough: throw little pointed objects at a circular board and try to reach the required score before your opponent does. Naturally, computers have a way of making simple things surprisingly tense. Accuracy, timing and control matter, while different scoring zones turn every throw into a small tactical decision. The game has the uncomplicated feel of an arcade-era sports title, but there is enough competition to make repeated matches enjoyable. It is particularly good for short sessions, when you fancy some competition without learning a rulebook the size of a telephone directory. Just remember that the computer never has to buy the next round.
