X-Men 2: The Fall of the Mutants is a curious blend of action and light strategy, where Marvel’s famous mutants get to stretch their powers across a series of loosely connected missions. It is not the most polished experience, but it has that unmistakable early-90s charm, where ambition often outpaced execution. Controlling multiple characters adds variety, even if it occasionally feels like herding superpowered cats. The presentation leans heavily on comic book aesthetics, which helps carry the experience. It is rough around the edges, but there is something endearing about seeing iconic heroes rendered in chunky pixels and questionable animations.
This game aged badly. I mean, really bad. It's borderline unplayable, but maybe it's me that I'm not used to old games.
