Dark, moody, and surprisingly creepy, Zork Nemesis is what happens when the whimsical world of Zork goes goth. The text adventures are gone—now it’s full-motion video, eerie soundscapes, and a storyline involving alchemy, murder, and a whole lot of abandoned temples. It’s more Myst than Frobozz, but the shift works. Atmospheric and surprisingly serious, Zork Nemesis is a haunting ride through a land that used to be full of jokes about elves. Turns out, Frobozzian society had a dark side. Who knew?
