Another World (1991) is a cinematic platformer with big ideas, minimal UI, and a shocking willingness to let you die within five seconds of starting. You play as a scientist who gets teleported to an alien planet where everything wants to kill you — from tentacle monsters to prison guards to your own poor timing. It’s beautiful in a stark, vector-graphics kind of way, and the storytelling is wordless but surprisingly emotional. Every death feels personal. Every escape feels triumphant. If Prince of Persia and Blade Runner had a moody, artsy child, this would be it.

Electronic Games (1994): "Out of This World is not perfect. Some of the puzzles have to be attempted so many times they’ll have players beating Lester’s head against the wall in frustration. Most of the puzzles require Lester to die numerous times before they are solved. Admittedly, this is not too much of a sticking point when unlimited continues are given as they are here. Also, there is no way to skip the cut scenes, no matter how many times the player might have These little problems don’t detract too much from the overall product. OOTW delivers hours of solid game play."

Retro gamer collector's corner:

In 1995, a Windows 3.x version was released, which was ported by Alexander Okrug. This version includes MIDI renditions of the intro and ending music.

This one is still my favorite scifi game personally. I love how the companion is an alien with the player in a strange world. I love the story of this game, too.
