Darklands is what happens when medieval Europe gets even darker than it already was. Unlike other RPGs of the era, it ditches elves and orcs for real-world folklore. Want to brew a potion to charm the locals? Go ahead. Want to pick a fight with a demonic cult in a back alley? Sure, but don’t cry when you lose. It’s tough, gritty, and oddly refreshing—a game that makes “permadeath” feel historically accurate.
