Released in 1994, Magic Carpet is one of those rare games that feels like someone mixed a fantasy novel with a flight simulator and then added enough explosions to keep everyone happy. You soar above colorful landscapes on a flying carpet, collecting magical energy while battling rival wizards, dragons, and creatures that clearly woke up on the wrong side of the volcano. The fully textured 3D world was astonishing for its time and still has a peculiar charm today. Mastering the controls takes a little patience, but once everything clicks, you will wonder why more games never let you duel while surfing the skies on enchanted upholstery.
