Narco Police is a 1990 cyberpunk action game that throws the player into a future where crime has become sufficiently unpleasant to require heavily armed officers, futuristic technology, and an alarming number of corridors. Set in a dystopian world dominated by criminal organizations, the game puts you in the role of a member of an elite police force tasked with dealing with dangerous enemies and completing missions in hostile environments. The atmosphere is one of its strongest features, with a grim science-fiction setting that feels suitably oppressive. Combat is direct and occasionally frantic, while exploration involves navigating labyrinthine locations that seem to have been designed by someone who strongly disliked straight lines. Narco Police is a fascinating snapshot of early cyberpunk gaming: gloomy, strange, and convinced that the future will involve considerably more shooting.
