Players once again take the role of a police officer, collecting evidence, questioning suspects, and handling situations according to proper procedures. The game expands on the original formula by introducing more detailed scenarios and a stronger narrative focus. Police Quest 2 rewards careful thinking and attention to detail rather than reckless action. It reminds players that solving crimes is not always about dramatic chases and explosions; sometimes it is about noticing small clues and doing things correctly. Of course, following every rule may not sound exciting, but in this game ignoring procedure is usually a fast way to create a disaster.
