SimFarm takes the simulation philosophy of Maxis and moves it away from skyscrapers and into the countryside. Players manage a farm, choosing crops, raising livestock, buying equipment, managing finances, and attempting to keep the whole operation profitable. Weather, soil conditions, market prices, and other factors influence the success of your agricultural empire, making farming considerably more complicated than simply planting seeds and waiting for vegetables. The game gives players considerable freedom to experiment with different approaches, whether they prefer crops, animals, or a mixture of both. Like other Maxis simulations, there is no single path to success, which makes experimentation part of the fun. SimFarm is a surprisingly detailed look at agriculture disguised as a computer game. It also proves that farming can be stressful even when nobody is trying to destroy your city. Sometimes the real enemy is simply a terrible harvest.
