Star Trek V: The Final Frontier takes the least-loved movie in the franchise and turns it into a game — which is bold, maybe even illogical. Released in 1989 for DOS, it tries to expand on the film’s plot, letting you explore, talk, and occasionally blast things into space dust. Unfortunately, it suffers from “movie tie-in syndrome”: the ambition is there, but the execution feels like it was done at warp factor 1. Still, it’s a curious artifact for Trekkies who enjoy seeing how much charisma Shatner’s likeness can carry in 16 colors.
