The Final Crusade of Kroz continues the tradition of the Kroz games with another top-down adventure packed with mazes, monsters, treasures, traps, and enough dangerous corridors to make taking the scenic route a questionable decision. The player explores a sprawling collection of areas while gathering useful items and trying to survive encounters that are often more about clever positioning than brute strength. The graphics are extremely simple, but that is part of the series' charm: imagination does most of the heavy lifting. Movement is deliberate, exploration is important, and mistakes can be surprisingly expensive. The game has the wonderfully old-fashioned habit of expecting players to remember things rather than automatically marking every interesting location on a map. If you enjoy retro adventures with puzzles, exploration, and a healthy disregard for modern conveniences, this is a particularly crunchy slice of DOS gaming.
