The Humans is a puzzle game built around a charmingly simple idea: you control a group of tiny prehistoric people and must help them reach safety by making use of their different abilities. The little characters can perform tasks such as climbing, digging, building, and interacting with the environment, turning each level into a miniature logistical problem. The challenge comes from figuring out how to use the available humans in the right order, because apparently even cavemen require project management. The visual style is colorful and friendly, while the increasing complexity gives the game plenty of staying power. It is easy to understand but surprisingly difficult to master, which is exactly what a good puzzle game should do. There is also something amusing about watching a crowd of tiny people repeatedly wander into danger because you made one slightly questionable decision. For retro puzzle fans, it remains a delightful little brain workout.
