Virtual Reality Studio is a DOS-era development tool aimed at creating interactive three-dimensional environments at a time when virtual reality was still surrounded by science-fiction excitement. Rather than simply consuming a finished application, users could experiment with constructing their own virtual spaces, objects, and interactions. The hardware limitations of early 1990s PCs meant that the results were nowhere near today's photorealistic VR, but the ambition was impressive. Creating a simulated 3D world on a DOS machine required careful compromises, clever programming, and a willingness to accept graphics that now look wonderfully primitive. The software is therefore interesting as much for its historical context as for its practical features. It captures a moment when developers and enthusiasts were trying to figure out what 'virtual reality' might actually become. The polygons may be simple, but the idea behind them was anything but modest.
