The Incredible Machine turns ordinary household objects into the components of gloriously complicated machines. The objective sounds simple enough: complete a particular task, usually by getting something from A to B. Naturally, the solution involves ramps, ropes, pulleys, bowling balls, balloons, mice, dynamite, and enough random contraptions to make a physics teacher quietly leave the room. Each puzzle encourages experimentation rather than brute force, and discovering why your beautifully designed machine collapses after three seconds is often half the fun. The cartoon presentation keeps things light, while the physics engine creates plenty of unexpected moments. There is something wonderfully satisfying about finally watching a chain reaction work exactly as intended. It is part puzzle game, part toy box, and part invitation to waste an afternoon making unnecessarily elaborate solutions to extremely simple problems.
