The Blues Brothers 2: Jukebox Adventure follows Jake and Elwood into another platforming adventure, this time with an even stronger emphasis on the colorful, chaotic style of the series. Released in 1993, it offers new stages, hazards, enemies, and plenty of jumping as the brothers work their way through a succession of increasingly troublesome situations. The basic formula remains familiar, but the sequel adds enough variety to keep the journey from feeling like a simple repeat of the first game. The environments are bright and playful, while the characters provide the personality that makes the whole thing work. The Blues Brothers 2 is not trying to reinvent platform gaming; it simply takes a recognizable pair of characters and lets them loose in another collection of dangerous places. The result is cheerful, occasionally frustrating fun. Once again, Jake and Elwood demonstrate that a successful musical career apparently requires considerably more jumping than anyone warned them about.
