Dreamweb (1994) went full dark cyberpunk, and it didn’t pull its punches. You play Ryan, a man convinced he’s on a mission from mysterious forces to kill seven people who are supposedly corrupting the world. Whether he’s a chosen savior or just completely unhinged is left deliciously ambiguous. The top-down visuals are gritty, the writing grim, and the atmosphere thick with paranoia. It’s violent, moody, and unforgettable—like reading a cyberpunk novella in pixel form. Few games of the era dared to go this bleak, which makes it stand out. It’s disturbing, fascinating, and very, very 90s.
