Before the shades, the muscles, and the one-liners, Duke Nukem was just a guy in a 2D platformer trying to save the world from an evil scientist. It’s bright, fast, and gloriously over-the-top for its time. Duke doesn’t yet have his trademark voice or attitude, but the seeds are there—lots of shooting, explosions, and toxic masculinity in pixel form. This was the dawn of a legend, back when 16 colors were enough to kick alien butt.
