Star Wars is a 1988 DOS game based on the original Star Wars trilogy, bringing the familiar universe of starfighters, space battles, and Imperial enemies to the home computer. The game focuses on action-oriented missions inspired by the films, allowing players to take part in famous conflicts while controlling spacecraft and fighting enemy forces. The presentation is firmly rooted in its era, but the Star Wars atmosphere gives the experience an immediate sense of excitement. Star Wars succeeds primarily because the basic fantasy is so appealing: climb into a starfighter, face impossible odds, and start shooting at Imperial hardware. There is little need for complicated explanations when the screen already tells you what to do. The game captures some of the excitement of the films while offering a compact computer interpretation of their battles. It is old-school Star Wars gaming at its most direct, proving once again that blowing up a space station is considerably more fun than filing paperwork.

F1 to toggle between mouse and keyboard. Keyboard controls: Q: up, A: down, O: left, P: right, SPACE: fire.
To slow down the game emulation press CTRL+F11, to speed up the game press CTRL+F12. Press Escape (ESC) to exit fullscreen mode.
