A text/graphic adventure from 1986 for DOS and Mac, Star Trek: The Promethean Prophecy is the precursor to Kobayashi Alternative but far more playable. You explore alien worlds, solve problems, and make classic Star Trek moral choices — all through a text parser that’s mercifully cooperative. The story feels like an authentic episode, complete with Kirk’s swagger and Spock’s sarcasm. It’s surprisingly atmospheric and occasionally even funny. For fans of retro adventures, this is a gem: less no-win, more “we can science our way out of this.”
