Released in 1995, I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream is the cheerful little tale of humanity being tortured by an all-powerful AI for eternity. In other words, not exactly a feel-good platformer. Based on Harlan Ellison's famous story, this point-and-click adventure throws players into deeply disturbing psychological scenarios where every choice feels morally sticky. It is bleak, intelligent, and about as comforting as a dentist appointment during a thunderstorm. What makes it remarkable is how boldly it leans into difficult themes while still being genuinely engaging as a game. Few titles manage to be this unsettling and this memorable. It is the kind of experience you admire, recommend, and then quietly recover from for a week.
