Ninja Rabbits is a 1992 platform game that takes the concept of the ninja and adds a rabbit, because apparently the genre had not yet reached its full potential for unusual protagonists. The player controls a martial-arts-trained rabbit through colorful levels filled with enemies, obstacles, and platforming challenges. The combination is wonderfully strange: part traditional action game, part cartoon adventure, and entirely committed to the idea that a rabbit can apparently be a highly capable warrior. The gameplay follows familiar platforming conventions, with movement, jumping, combat, and exploration all playing important roles. Ninja Rabbits has a lighthearted tone that separates it from the more serious ninja adventures of the era. It is difficult to look at the premise and remain completely serious, which is probably the point. Sometimes the world needs a hero, and sometimes that hero has very long ears.
