Who is Alexey Pajitnov?

Alexey Pajitnov is a Russian video game designer and computer scientist best known for creating one of the most iconic and influential video games of all time, Tetris. Born on March 14, 1956, in Moscow, Russia, Pajitnov developed Tetris in 1984 while working at the Dorodnitsyn Computing Centre of the Soviet Academy of Sciences.

Tetris is a tile-matching puzzle game where players manipulate falling geometric shapes (tetrominoes) to create solid horizontal lines. The game quickly gained worldwide popularity and became a hallmark of the video game industry. It has been released on numerous platforms and has inspired countless variations and adaptations.

Due to the nature of the Soviet gaming industry at the time, Pajitnov did not initially receive royalties for Tetris. However, after the rights were sorted out, he went on to enjoy recognition for his creation.
