Spector gained prominence for his work on the Deus Ex series, which he co-created with Ion Storm. Deus Ex (2000) is often regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time, praised for its deep narrative, player choice, and blending of various gameplay elements such as stealth, action, and role-playing.

Before Deus Ex, Spector worked on games like Ultima VI: The False Prophet and Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss, both of which are highly regarded role-playing games.
