Before Pixar made you cry with a lamp and a toy cowboy, there was 3D Studio 3 on DOS. Released in 1993, this was the go-to tool for aspiring animators who didn’t mind waiting three hours to render a spinning cube. It came with more menus than a diner and a learning curve that looked like the Matterhorn. Still, if you had the patience of a monk and a hard drive big enough to store a single frame, you could create some impressive stuff. Or at least a shiny donut that took you all weekend. Not a game, but a nerd’s playground.
DOS Applications made for DOS require an emulator to run on Windows. Use DOSBox or a frontend like D-Fend Reloaded and read this guide to play DOS games on your Windows PC.

Someone wrote a plug-in for designing dungeon games using 3DS. I should still have it in my archives so will upload it if I can find it.
