Elite Plus takes everything intimidating about Elite and polishes it just enough to feel slightly less hostile. The visuals are improved, the interface smoother, but the soul remains the same: a lonely pilot carving out a living in a dangerous universe. It still doesn’t hold your hand, and it still punishes recklessness, but it feels more refined, more confident. This is Elite for players who already know what they’re getting into and want a deeper, cleaner experience. It doesn’t dilute the challenge; it sharpens it. If the original felt like a prototype of the future, Elite Plus feels like that future showing up early.
PC Leisure (1990): "Elite is the tops. It's got enough strategy to keep you coming back for more and more enough action to keep an arcade freak happy until the early hours. An oldie but a real goodie."
