Golden Axe is a classic arcade game developed by Sega and released in 1989. It's a side-scrolling beat 'em up game set in a fantasy world where players choose one of three characters: a barbarian, a dwarf, or an amazon, each with their own strengths and abilities. The game follows the quest of these heroes to rescue the King and Princess of Yuria from the evil Death Adder, who has captured them and taken the legendary Golden Axe. Players battle through hordes of enemies, including skeletons, knights, and other mythical creatures, using melee attacks, magic spells, and riding on the backs of fire-breathing dragons to defeat their foes.
Zero (1991): "This is an excellent conversion, retaining everything from the original - even allowing you to clamber aboard flying beasties, once you've knocked the original riders off. If you liked the original, you'll be well happy with this version. If not, be prepared for a well-executed, if rather straightforward, beat'em up."

If you don't have a numpad (to press [5] to select Player 1), go to settings and change Player 1 to keyboard, and you can select your character with [S] ... the keys are [WASDX] and [right shift] for magic.

Which key for the magic special? Seriously, the worst thing about this game are the controls - I'm not even sure you can cast the magical spell, I think I already ran through the entire keyboard and nothing works.

Hello John, to confirm the selection of a character, you have to press key [5] on the numpad.

How do you select a character once you've made it past the mode selection screen? Which key do you press to confirm your selection?
