Hugo 2: Whodunit? continues the series with a mystery that is equal parts charming and perplexing. Released in 1991, it builds on its predecessor with improved visuals and a slightly more refined sense of humor. The puzzles can be tricky, occasionally veering into the realm of “how was I supposed to know that,” but solving them is satisfying nonetheless. The game does not take itself too seriously, which helps smooth over its rough edges. It is a lighthearted adventure that rewards curiosity and persistence, even if it sometimes tests your patience along the way.
