Interstate '76

Interstate '76 is what happens when vehicular combat, 1970s funk, and action-movie swagger collide magnificently. Released in 1997, it combines stylish storytelling with explosive car battles set in a dusty alternate America. The soundtrack alone deserves applause, while the gameplay offers tactical driving and satisfying chaos. It is clever, charismatic, and unlike almost anything else in gaming. Few titles manage to be this cool without trying too hard.

Interstate '76 review

Computer Gaming World (1997): "But still, at a time when many games can't even do one thing right, INTERSTATE '76 is a rare joy – a game positively overflowing with solid ideas and great gameplay. This is a superlative game in almost every respect, with nearly everything you could hope for in one package: adrenaline-inducing single- and multiplayer action; a solid, original plot that actually affects gameplay; a beautiful 3D environment; and even a great written manual. If you want to experience the '70s the way they should have been, get INTERSTATE '76 – and have a nice day."

Retro gamer collector's corner:

Initially, plans for an "Interstate '77" were made. The player would take on the role of Taurus; helping him would be a new sidekick "Jenny". The plot dealt with Taurus, Jenny and Skeeter tracking down the army General who funded Tony Malochio in the first game. This idea was abandoned and the missions were repurposed as the "Interstate '76 Nitro Pack".

This was really one of the best games back in the w95 days, graphics obviously look very dated now
but i reckon still very playable if you have a real w95 pc available with the right specs
