Squarez Deluxe!

Squarez Deluxe! is a 1993 puzzle game built around colored blocks, careful positioning, and the increasingly dangerous realization that your apparently brilliant move has just ruined the entire board. The objective is to manipulate groups of squares and clear them according to the game's rules, requiring players to think ahead rather than simply react. The presentation is colorful and playful, but the puzzles can become surprisingly demanding as the levels progress. Squarez Deluxe! belongs to that wonderfully addictive family of puzzle games where the basic mechanics take seconds to understand and considerably longer to master. There is no epic storyline to distract you and no enormous inventory to organize. Just a board, some blocks, and your own increasingly questionable decisions. The game works particularly well for short sessions, although “just one more level” can easily turn into an hour. Like many good puzzle games, it is perfectly capable of making you feel clever right before humbling you.
