The Clue! turns the classic murder-mystery board game concept into a computer adventure with investigation, deduction, and a suitably suspicious collection of characters. The familiar ingredients are all present: a crime, possible motives, clues, secret information, and the ever-present question of who did what, where, and with which suspiciously convenient object. Rather than simply rolling dice and moving pieces, the computer version expands the mystery atmosphere and gives players more of an investigative role. The challenge comes from connecting information and eliminating possibilities, so a good memory is often more valuable than lightning-fast reflexes. Its presentation has plenty of period charm, and the whole experience feels like stepping into a slightly eccentric detective novel. Naturally, everyone looks guilty, which is exactly how these games should work. If you enjoy deduction and old-school mysteries, it remains a pleasant little brain teaser.
